Our parkway landscape redesign at Mies's 2400 N Lakeview sees its first weekend. We removed the 3 foot wide concrete walk ways and elevated the experience with flame finished absolute black granite pavers from Tom van Etten at Galloy & Van Etten set in a running bond pattern five feet wide by Alan C. Watkins of Clarence Davids who also spruced up our plantings with additional sumac and new mulch.
One of the challenges was the change in elevation–especially on the 144 foot long Fullerton side and persuading the Dept of Forestry that our new pavers were permeable enough to co-exist with the trees.
And coincidentally I am reading a book written by author and attorney Thomas Geoghegan who happened to be walking by and is in the frame. I recommend it. #miesvanderrohe #lincolnpark
